Ultimate Orange
Lester's 1975 Jeep CJ5 / Ultimate Orange
Home-Made 4x4 Rig
Built to wheel
This 1975 Jeep CJ5, known as Ultimate Orange, is fully custom. From the frame to the suspension, to the cowl induction hood and the flat fenders, its all home-made and built to wheel!
Rock sliders are built into this custom CJ body, but the modified Jeep YJ leaf springs hold this monster up high enough to rarely need them.
Ultimate Orange sits on a 14 bolt rear axle housing and Dana 60 front, geared at 5.38 and locked at both ends.
37" by 12.5" Pitbull Rocker tires wrap the American Racing ATX Series Slab bead-lock wheels.
The engine is a rebuilt 4.3 liter Chevy Vortec V6 with fuel injection. This motor was salvaged from an old generator and the fuel injection system was taken off an 1998 S10 found at the local junk yard.
An SM465 4 speed transmission and advanced adapter set mate up to the factory transfer case which is the only remaining original piece of the drive-train.
The PSC hydro assist steering and custom install makes for easy turning in this Jeep while on the trail.
Trail communications in this rig are kept simple with a Baofeng Pofung GT-3TP Mark-III hand held radio.
This 2 meter / 70 centimeter ham radio is all that's needed for great rig to rig , off-grid trail communications.
Ultimate Orange is a CJ that takes a beating and comes back for more. This Jeep has been back and forth through the Rubicon, the Dusy Ershim, Swamp Lake, Coyote Lake, Mirror Lake and more.
