Just how small is a 7.17 Pinion?
On the left is a 7.17 Dana 60 pinion. on the right is a 7.17 Dana 70 pinion.

Why would we use these?
The One Ton Tracker is running the factory 1.6L motor and transmission. The factory gearing on 27" tires was 5.12. The tracker is on 38s now. So, the math to match the factory gearing ( or come close ) is 5.12/27*38=7.20. Pretty close to 7.17.
